Ever wish you had a single place to plan, prioritise, and measure the ROI of every product initiative your team is working on? That’s exactly what the Product Investment Tracker does. Whether you’re evaluating a new feature build, a platform migration, or a strategic partnership, this screen gives you full visibility into timelines, budgets, and milestones — so nothing falls through the cracks.
It’s built for product leaders, finance partners, and executives who need to answer one question quickly: “Are we investing in the right things, and are they on track?”
Getting There
From the left-hand navigation in Subrise Operations, expand the Product module and click Investment Tracker.
Key Features
Initiative Summary Cards
At the top of the screen you’ll see high-level summary cards that roll up your entire investment portfolio. These cards show metrics like total planned spend, actual spend to date, number of active initiatives, and overall milestone completion percentage. It’s your executive snapshot — glanceable and always up to date.
Financial Overview Chart
A visual chart breaks down planned versus actual spend across all initiatives, helping you spot budget overruns or under-utilisation early. You can toggle between different time views to see how spending is trending over weeks or months.
Initiative List & Detail View
Below the summary you’ll find every initiative listed with its name, status, owner, budget, and progress. Click any initiative to open a detailed view where you can see the full description, edit financial details, and manage milestones. Each initiative supports statuses like Planning, In Progress, On Hold, and Completed so you always know where things stand.
Milestone Tracking
Every initiative can have multiple milestones — think of them as the key checkpoints that need to be hit for the initiative to succeed. Each milestone has a target date, a status, and an optional description. You can mark milestones as complete as your team progresses, giving stakeholders a clear view of momentum.
Milestone Comments & Collaboration
Need to leave context on a milestone? Each one supports threaded comments so your team can discuss blockers, share updates, or link to relevant documents — all in one place. No more hunting through Slack threads or email chains.
Gantt Chart View
For teams that prefer a timeline-based view, the Investment Tracker includes an interactive Gantt chart. It plots every initiative along a horizontal timeline so you can see overlaps, dependencies, and resource conflicts at a glance. Drag to adjust dates or click into any bar for details.
Step-by-Step: Creating & Managing an Initiative
- Create a new initiative — Click the Add Initiative button. Fill in the name, description, status, budget, and expected timeline. Hit Save.
- Add milestones — Inside the initiative detail view, scroll to the Milestones section and click Add Milestone. Give it a name, target date, and optional description.
- Track progress — As work progresses, update milestone statuses to Complete. The summary cards and charts will update automatically.
- Monitor financials — Keep the budget and actual spend fields current. The financial chart will reflect changes in real time, making it easy to spot variances.
- Collaborate — Use milestone comments to keep stakeholders informed. Tag specific updates or decisions so there’s a clear audit trail.
- Review in Gantt view — Switch to the Gantt chart to see how all initiatives align on the calendar. Use this view in planning meetings to discuss sequencing and resource allocation.
Tips & Best Practices
Pro Tips
- Keep budgets honest — Update actual spend weekly rather than monthly. Small, frequent updates prevent end-of-quarter surprises.
- Use milestones strategically — Don’t create dozens of micro-milestones. Focus on 3-6 meaningful checkpoints per initiative that genuinely signal progress.
- Leverage the Gantt chart in leadership reviews — It’s the fastest way to communicate portfolio status without slides.
- Archive completed initiatives — Mark them as Completed to keep the active list clean while preserving the data for future reference and ROI analysis.
- Tie initiatives to business outcomes — Use the description field to document the expected impact (e.g. “Reduce churn by 5%”). This makes retrospective ROI conversations much easier.
