Investment Tracker – Manage Strategic Initiatives and Budgets

Table of Contents

The Investment Tracker helps you plan, track, and report on strategic initiatives and their associated budgets. Whether you’re tracking a product launch, an infrastructure project, or a go-to-market investment, this screen keeps everything organized with clear financial visibility and milestone tracking.

Getting There

Navigate to Operations → Finance → Investment Tracker in the left sidebar.

Key Features

Initiative Management

Create and manage strategic initiatives, each with a name, description, budget, timeline, and status. The initiative list gives you a clear overview of all active investments with their current progress.

Financial Summary Cards

At the top of the screen, summary cards show your total investment portfolio: total budget, spent to date, remaining budget, and percentage completion. These cards give you the financial health check at a glance.

Financial Charts

Interactive charts visualize your investment spending over time, by category, and against budget. Spot overspending early and track burn rate trends to ensure initiatives stay on track financially.

Milestone Tracking

Each initiative can have milestones — key deliverables or checkpoints along the way. Track milestone completion, dates, and add comments to create a clear record of progress.

Gantt Chart View

See all your initiatives on a timeline with the Gantt chart view. Understand how initiatives overlap, spot resource conflicts, and plan sequencing for maximum impact.

Comments & Collaboration

Add comments to milestones and initiatives to facilitate team collaboration. Keep decisions, updates, and context documented in one place.

Step-by-Step: Tracking an Initiative

  1. Create the initiative — Click add and fill in the details: name, budget, timeline, and objectives.
  2. Add milestones — Break the initiative into key milestones with target dates.
  3. Track spending — As costs are incurred, update the financial data to track actual vs. budget.
  4. Monitor the Gantt chart — Use the timeline view to ensure the initiative is on schedule.
  5. Update milestones — Mark milestones as complete and add comments as progress is made.
  6. Review the summary — Check the financial summary cards regularly to ensure the initiative is on budget.

💡 Tips & Best Practices

  • Define milestones upfront — Clear milestones at the start prevent scope creep and keep initiatives focused.
  • Review in leadership meetings — Share the Investment Tracker in executive meetings for budget accountability.
  • Use comments for decisions — When a key decision is made about an initiative, document it in the comments for future reference.
